Pretty's story
Before
After
Pretty is a Doberman who was found by the side of the road, close to death. She had been dumped, possibly by a breeder, who may have found that they could not breed off of her. After being rescued and brought into our centre she was put on a drip and was unable to stand for a week. Once Pretty had recovered we needed to sterilise her, as this stage it was found she had cancer in the womb and had been unable to produce young. This discovery strengthened our belief of why she was dumped. Pretty was taken to a new home, but it was very clear where she wanted to be, she pulled off the lead and was back in ARK before we were, so she has remained a permanent resident of ARK for approximately the last four years. Her favourite place to stand is on top of the steps leading to the surgery. It's as if she is surveying her territory.

Doberman's story
Before
After
This dog was rescued by a member of the public on 13.01.2012 and admitted into ARK for treatment. Her rescuer had seen her tied up in the morning and passed again later in the day, only to find that she was still there. Somebody had abandoned her. After our continuous treatment, care and attention, we are pleased to say that she now is in good health and has been sterilized and fully vaccinated. This beautiful girl is in ARK's care, waiting for a new home.

Black Labrador's story
We rescued this dog on the 28.02.2012 near Kovalam junction. She had a very large maggot wound near her tail. She received treatment and care at ARK, but unfortunately she was too weak and died shortly after. Had her owners sought treatment for her early on, rather than disregarding her poor state and abandoning her, she could have pulled through. She was a lovely natured dog. In spite of being in such pain, she still showed pleasure at seeing us, even when receiving treatment.

German Shepherd's story
Before
After
This German shepherd is the pet dog of a local man. The dog had a large maggot wound on his front right leg which his owner had not taken care of. He brought the dog to our shelter on 22.02.2012. We admitted the dog into our care for treatment and also educated the owner on how to take care of his dog. Now this beautiful German Shepherd is fully healed and living happily back with his family.
